A More Feminine New Year

Is it time for a more feminine New Year?

What do I mean by that?

Usually, New Year is bound up with achievement in the coming months.

Then some people are so disillusioned with not achieving goals, they give up on a future vision altogether.

Both are an archetypally masculine approaches to the New Year.

There is nothing wrong with that, but if it is not tempered with the feminine, it can get really out of balance.

People tend to burn themselves out trying to fulfil some future vision of themselves and don’t have time to smell the roses.

Then others just want to smell the roses and don’t achieve anything at all.

Only to find the void created is filled with other people’s visions of who we are and what we should do.

So what is the solution?

It’s time to do the Holy Trinity of Goal Setting.

In many ways it’s very simple.

By all means set success goals, but make sure you also have equally important desires centred around love and happiness.

If the pursuit of our goals, is balance with love and happiness every day, then we come into balance.

We balance the masculine of achievement with the feminine of love and this allows us to give birth to our regenerated, happy child-self.

Is it sexist to think of masculine and feminine in these terms?

Absolutely not!

Whether we are a man or woman or identify ourselves in some other way, we all need the best of the masculine and feminine to have balance and transform.

When we can identify masculine and feminine traits, we can see what is missing and what extra resources we need for our future to be different to our past.

This is not about a man being masculine or a woman being feminine.

This is about us seeing what mix of masculinity and femininity will serve us at any given moment, because all these traits have equal value.

In fact, understanding feminine and masculine traits actually gives us more choice about how we respond to situations and when we have become too extreme.

They also show us resources that might have been invisible within the habit of our identity.

What are these traits?

Archetypally masculine traits are based on the Magician, Ruler and Knight: at their simplest these are our capacity to transform, organise and achieve.

Archetypally feminine traits are based on the Oracle, Creative Nurturer and Sage: at their simplest these are our capacity to receive, create and nurture ourselves, and listen to our intuition.

It is interesting in our world, even when women have gained more rights, the feminine is often left behind.

So this New Year see what you can change in yourself and what goals you can set that allow you to:

Receive more of what you want, including support from others . . .

Create and nurture what gives you greater self-love . . .

Become more still and relaxed, so you can hear the still quiet voice of intuition.

If you do this I can guarantee you 2023 will be totally different from any other year you have had.

And surprisingly you will achieve more with less effort anyway.

Often in order to receive, love ourselves and intuit we need to clear the negative connotation connected with the feminine.

These mistaken beliefs are often that the feminine is weak and undeserving of time and attention.

Or feminine traits mean we put other people’s needs above our own.

These old fashioned beliefs and behaviours can be deeply intrenched.

They often need processes of emotional healing and belief changing to really make a difference.
